A magnificant large substantial French, art deco mantle clock in black celluloid with chrome numerals hands and decoration. This clock, approximately 100 years old, has black celluloid formed around a wood base and backplate. The large dial is held in a chromed surround. Two chromed balls 45mm diameter sit on each side of the frame on the base. The mechanical movement is controlled by an 8 day. Although with’signs of age’ the clock is undamaged. This is a visually striking, and rare mantel clock. Height: 9.5 in. (24 cm) Width: 12 in. (30.5 cm) Depth: 4 in. Vintage clocks from the 1930’s and 1940’s, with their original movements, are rare and were made to the highest quality of engineering. They have all been serviced. They need to be handled with care particularly made with glass, bakelite and other delicate materials. Some electric clocks will require manual starting. Dimensions and weights are approximate.
